In Uganda, ATMs are wildly available across the country especially in big towns, however hardly accessed in remote areas, so you are advised to make any exchange before you proceed to remote areas. Many hotels, lodges and restaurants, campsites especially out Kampala do not accept or take cards hence Uganda is known as a cash economy. Uganda’s most reliable banks are Stanbic, Barclays and UBSA Bank accepting MasterCard, Maestro and Visa.

Come with additional $$ or Euros just in case, these can easily be changed into Uganda shillings at any forex bureau in most of big towns in Uganda. Consider bringing USD notes printed in 2007 and above notes printed 2006 or earlier are not accepted here in Uganda and  dollars bellow $50 are accepted/exchanged at a lower rate. Some of the banks/ fores bureau in Uganda might still exchange old notes for you, but still the exchange rates will be a lot lower.

The school is based in Masaka district, 130km from Kampala city, the good news we are located 8km off Masaka/,Mbarara road in the southwestern part of you, were you can easily branch off during your drive to either lake Mburo national park , Queen Elizabeth or Bwindi impenetrable national park.  So if you consider donating to local community you can consider visiting our kids in school or visit the community. It’s out of your heart that you can support them in one way or the other even if in the later years. On top of that most lodges have a tipping box and distribute tips equally among all the staff. If you enjoyed the service, just be substantial and contribute to the tipping box. As for your driver, guide or ranger, tipping is highly appreciated.
